Journey

I did not have a very elaborate journey into PM. My initial thought was to go into Data Science and that’s where I did most of my projects and internships until 3rd year. My areas of interest were Algorithmic Trading and Computer Vision. While working on these projects and building models, I realized that I was also interested in finding the why’s - Why are we building this model? Why is there a need for this classification? I was always looking for the value addition that was being done to the business. That was the point I figured out that I wanted to be at the intersection of Tech and Business.

Internships

Microsoft GSMO(in the summer after third year)

  1. Interned with the post-sales charter of Global Sales Marketing and Operations (GSMO) division of Microsoft, got an offer to return full time.
  2. Devised Microsoft Teams (one-stop collaboration tool) adoption roadmap and use-cases for clients across 3 sectors- Education, DTH & BPO.
  3. Developed sector specific Teams adoption insights for the post-sales team by conducting discussions with clients and internal as well as external experts.
  4. Proposed an alternate strategy to decrease the time to land the product with clients by leveraging multiple internal units.

FloBiz (Koinex)

  1. Worked across (almost all) teams and learnt about Indian internet users from tier (1+n) cities, building products and optimizing processes.
  2. Served as one of the two PMs on the team that shipped the first version of FloBooks, a mobile first accounting app for SME entrepreneurs. It started off as an experiment and became the sole focus of FloBiz a few months after launch.
  3. Also, helped build and optimise sales, support and product processes.
